For the past 14+ years, I have had a private practice on the upper west side of Manhattan, specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders in children, adolescents, teens and adults.

A practicing attorney, I had been affected by anxiety for the early part of my adult life. Like many other people in my situation, I spent years trying various psychodynamically oriented therapies that did not help me. Fortunately, I finally came upon a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) specifically tailored to the needs of people with anxiety disorders. This treatment provided me with the skills, knowledge and tools needed to overcome my fears. I became so convinced of its efficacy and its ability to help people suffering from anxiety disorders that I changed careers and dedicated myself to helping others with these conditions.

As a cognitive behavioral therapist, I will help you understand what anxiety is, how to think about it differently, and how to behave in ways that will ultimately free you from the devastating/incapacitating effects of your anxiety. When appropriate, I will even accompany you into your feared situation(s) or visit you at home. I may also incorporate mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psycho-dynamic therapy and/or energy psychology when helpful. Together we will formulate a treatment strategy that will work for you.

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I was specifically trained in cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety disorders at The Anxiety Phobia Treatment Center at White Plains Hospital. Dr. Manual Zane, credited with developing CBT for anxiety disorders, founded this center in 1971. I am a member of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (a national organization whose mission is to promote the prevention, treatment and cure of anxiety disorders) and serve on their direct service committee. I am a recipient of the ADAA's 2012 Clinician's Outreach Award. I am also a member of the New York City Cognitive Behavioral Association. I received my MSW from Columbia University School of Social Work and my JD from City University of New York Law School.
